Dr. Vitenas’ Vaginoplasty Patient Shares Her Surgery Experience
Vaginal rejuvenation techniques, such as the labiaplasty and vaginoplasty, speak to some of the most common changes women experience but find it hard to talk about. However, no matter how much you see on the news or read online, these medical procedures can still leave you puzzled. To paint a clearer picture of the vaginoplasty process, Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery decided to interview one of our recent patients. Her words can be an inspiration for anyone thinking about their own vaginal rejuvenation.
About the Vaginoplasty:
The term vaginoplasty refers to a surgical procedure, designed to tighten lax muscles within the vagina. After the trauma of childbirth, tissue may lose their elasticity, stretching to accommodate the new baby. Unfortunately, coupled with the loss of collagen and elastic, these muscles can become lax. As the vaginal walls lose their youthful tautness, a multitude of issues can occur, such as painful intercourse, the inability to hold a tampon in place, decreased sexual sensation, and even stress urinary incontinence. Dr. Vitenas’ unique vaginoplasty eliminates the stretched tissue within the vagina, tightening the muscles to restore their strength and shape.
Meet Jayne, Our Vaginoplasty Patient:
Jayne is a 42-year old woman from Pearland, Texas. The mother of 11-year old twins, Jayne works as a project manager for an international energy company based out of Houston. Out of respect for Jayne’s privacy, her real name was not used for this interview.
Q. When did you first notice changes in your vagina?
After the birth of my twins, I never quite felt like my old self. The lack of vaginal muscle tone made it hard to reestablish an intimate relationship with my husband. As the next decade went by, the discomfort during sex grew worse, eventually causing me to avoid intercourse altogether.
Q. How did you hear about the vaginal rejuvenation techniques?
I first heard about vaginal rejuvenation on television. Seeing celebrities like Jada Pinkett Smith, Brandi Glanville, and Sharon Osborne discussing their results got my attention. I was curious and hopeful enough to schedule a consultation appointment at Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery.
Q. Tell us about the vaginoplasty procedure –
During my vaginoplasty consultation, Dr. Vitenas performed a quick exam and discussed my situation at length. He detailed a surgical treatment plan that clearly explained what to expect. My vaginoplasty was scheduled the following week at the Houston Surgery Center, which is located in the same building as Dr. Vitenas’ office. The procedure took about an hour. My husband waited during my procedure and was then able to take me home after I woke from the anesthesia.
Q. Was there any pain during or after your vaginoplasty?
My procedure was performed using IV sedation, with a local anesthetic, so there was no pain. I was comfortable and stress-free. During the first few days after my vaginoplasty, I experienced some localized tenderness. However, over-the-counter-pain medications were enough to keep the discomfort at a bearable level.
Q. How was your vaginoplasty recovery?
At first, I was tired and mildly sore but in just a few days my strength was back. I had my vaginoplasty on a Thursday and was back at work on Monday. For the next six weeks, I did not wear any tampons and I postponed sexual intercourse. Dr. Vitenas kept a close eye on my recovery and give me the thumbs up to resume sex after my second follow-up appointment.
Q. How soon did you notice improvements from your vaginoplasty?
At first, I was a little nervous about getting back to normal, but my recovery progressed well. When we did resume intercourse, the intensity was amazing for both me and my husband.
Q. How long has it been since your vaginoplasty procedure?
It has been about 18 months since my vaginoplasty. The procedure was a Christmas present to myself in 2016.
Q. Assess your final vaginoplasty results –
I never anticipated my vaginoplasty would bring such life-changing results. Vaginal laxity can slowly appear, gradually getting worse with age. Sex is no longer uncomfortable and the sensations are magnified. I feel more confident in bed and my overall self-esteem has blossomed.
Q. Is there anything else you would like to add?
My only advice to women interested in a vaginoplasty is to be brave and schedule that first consultation appointment. The only way to understand the technique, and to determine if a vaginoplasty is right for you, is through an appointment with an experienced plastic surgeon.
