Labiaplasty is a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure that is performed by a board certified plastic surgeon to address and rejuvenate excess skin around the vagina region. Patients can have predisposed genetics that lead to increased volume or looseness of labia skin, or can appear to any woman later in life as a result of child bearing and age. The labiaplasty procedure is performed to reduce the size of the labia by excising extra skin to make vaginal anatomy symmetric and more comfortable for the patient. Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure that is performed under local anesthesia and completed in a little less than an hour in our in-office operating room. Patients can expect mild discomfort in this sensitive region post-surgery, but mild pain medications in combination with non-oral topicals help alleviate pain. Most patients return to work the following day, but the full recovery time on average takes about two weeks for most swelling and bruising to be gone. Patients who find themselves feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable will benefit greatly by booking there first consultation and meeting Dr. Vitenas to further review how this procedure will advantageous for you.
